PMDiane Cabral, PresidentPresident's Message

Thank you Las Vegas Northwest Rotary Club for all your support on my first meeting!  I look forward to seeing all your smiling faces each Tuesday morning for the next Rotary year.

Would You Like to Become a Rotarian?

It was a busy first day on the job...and we accomplished quite a lot.  Our speaker,  Barbara Risher-Welch, Past District Governor, gave us a wealth of information and ideas on how to build Membership.  It does take all of us to bring in new members, so please ASK someone you may know if they would like to be your guest at our club for a breakfast meeting.  Please introduce them as your guest and not as a potential member until approved by the Board.  The Membership Committee is coming up with some new and exciting ideas for Membership growth, which you will be hearing about soon.

We held our first Board Meeting for the new year in which the Board voted to change the name of our club to " Rotary Club of Las Vegas Summerlin".  The membership will be asked to vote on this at our meeting on July 27th, so please plan on attending.

Successful clubs usually hold their first assembly sometime during the first month of the new Rotary year.  These meetings are for all Rotarians during which club officers, directors, and committee chairs discuss upcoming programs, activities, calendar, and plans for the upcoming year.  We are scheduled for July 27th at our regular meeting.

Diane Cabral,  President 2010-2011

Rotary Information

Diane Cabral received this notification from District 5300. A Tour de Tucson bicycle fundraiser benefiting Polio Plus. The suggestion is that So NV Rotary might create a Team.  It would be a team building, fund raising opportunity!

Roger Schulte, DG It is  time to begin recruiting applicants for the 2011 Group Study Exchange trip tentatively scheduled for April 12 - May 12, 2011.  The trip to District 2450 includes Dubai, Bahrain and Egypt!  Qualified applicants are non-Rotarian professional men and women,  25-40 years old, with a desire to serve as Rotary ambassadors and to contribute to this cultural and vocational exchange.  Applications are due to Adrienne Cox by August 31.

 On the Lite Side
One day God was talking to Adam and he said "Adam you look lonely, I know I'll give you a woman but it will cost you an arm and a leg."

Adam said " what can I get for a rib?"

The rest is history.
