Regional Transportation Commission of
Southern Nevada - Allison Pastor outlined the current
and on-going efforts of RTCSN to move people more efficiently.
One interesting development is an in-the- works web-based trip
planner to help folks figure out how to use public
transportation to get where they need to be. One well kept
secret is the South Strip Transfer Terminal at 6675 Gilespie
Street (near Sunset and the Strip). It has 100 parking spots
and you can catch rapid transit to the airport.

There's no fellowship in an empty chair. Your

fellowship.

| President's Message |
"Has Rotary a meaning for you? No? Possibly you haven't the
right perspective. You have worried yourself so much over the
little unimportant things that you haven't even given yourself
a momentary glimpse of the tout ensemble. Stand back, a few
paces, for a moment, far enough away from the picture so that
the details may assume their proper proportions and disclose
their true relationship toward each other. It will profit you
to get the distance sense."
Paul P Harris 'The Distant
Sense' published in The Rotarian, February 1914

Award Winning LVNW Rotary - At this year's District
Conference, we were honored by District 5300, receiving the
Outstanding Club award and also by Rotary International,
receiving the President's Citation.
Visiting Rotarians Return - George Eichacker, our
regular visitor from Keokuk Rotary Club, wrote about his
experiences as a Rotarian. You can read the editorial here.
Membership - If you check out the District 5300 website, you will find that we
are among the top 10 clubs in membership growth.
Congratulations to all who invited a friend to Rotary, but
especially to our Membership Chair, Darrell Cavanaugh!
Any Soldier - Chris Carson mentioned his family's
participation in www.anysoldier.com, and club members
expressed interest. All the Soldiers involved in this effort
are military volunteers stationed in areas that are in harm's
way. You send your support (letters and/or packages) addressed
to the soldier representatives you pick on the website. When
"Attn: Any Soldier" letters and packages are received, they
are put into the hands of soldiers who don't get much or any
mail first. Everything is shared.
Jerry Sligar forwarded a touching sentiment on this
subject-- click here for that email.

District Conference - Our club was represented in
Rancho Mirage by Judith & Dennis Filangeri, Lynn &
Richard Peterson, and Dennis Ortwein. Dennis served nobly and
ably as music master, opening each and every meal with a song
or two. The conference is a great opportunity to find out all
the really phenomenal projects our district's clubs are
involved in while meeting people from across the district.
GSE - We bid farewell to our GSE team at District
Conference as well. The members of our district's GSE team got
to meet the Central European GSE members before everyone went
home. Both shared their experiences with district conference
participants. Club thanks to Wenlee Jensen, who coordinated
the Southern Nevada GSE experience.
