We meet every Tuesday from 7:15-8:30 A.M. at the
Tournament Players Club, Town Center, Summerlin
| Last Week's Program |
Courtney Brooks is a hydrogeologist who spent many
years in Africa. He presented a program on his experiences in
Central Africa working on water development projects.
He emphasized that the projects with the highest degree of
success were those that used the simplest technology, were
dependable, and involved the efforts of the communities which
the projects served.
This reinforces RI's philosophy when reviewing projects for
matching grant applications.

I'm proud and pleased to announce that our own Diane Cabral
has become a Major Contributor to the Foundation, having
contributed over $10,000 to support the wonderful programs of
the Rotary Foundation.
The mission of The Rotary Foundation is
to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill
and peace through the improvement of health, the support of
education and the alleviation of poverty. The Rotary
Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation that is supported
solely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians and friends
of the Foundation who share its vision of a better world.
Congratulations, Diane! And our thanks.

World Understanding and Peace: February's Rotary
theme is World Understanding and Peace. Advancing world
understanding and peace, which is expressed in the fourth part
of the Object of Rotary, is an important focus of Rotarian
service. It is the impetus for numerous service efforts and
other cooperative ventures among Rotarians from different
parts of the world. It is the reason Rotary International has
a long-standing close collaboration with the United Nations
and many of its member agencies. Appropriately, every year the
anniversary of the founding of Rotary, 23 February, is
celebrated as World Understanding and Peace Day.

breakfast any Tuesday morning to meet the beautiful babies in
person.
Go to the contest page from our home page, or click the
link below to see the 38 pictures and try to identify them
(crib sheet provided). The contestant who correctly identifies
the most pictures wins a two night stay at the Hampton Inn and
Suites in Palm Desert. The Rotarian whose picture is most
mis-identified wins a two night stay in deluxe accommodations
at the Hilton Oakland Airport (That's San Francisco for the
directionally challenged).
Be sure to enter your name and contact information
on your ballot!
Enter as many times as you like. Only your last ballot
