Michael Gordon, Rotary Scholar attending UNLV, presented a
program about the RI Rotary Scholarship program and South
Africa, his home. Michael is still on a quest for the great
wine we Americans tout— perhaps a loyal reader might be able
to point Michael in the right direction. For more information
on Michael, click here to go to his blog.

Why I Am A Rotarian Robert A. Cerwin,
Director and Vice President, Rotary International,
1985-87 The RC of Asheville, NC, USA
Rotary is a miracle as small as one tiny drop of vaccine in
a child's mouth and as big as peace and prosperity for our
planet.
Personally, I think it requires an incredible investment of
our time and energy that offers unlimited returns. For the
recipient it can be the promise of a future filled with hope;
for the donor, the assurance of fulfillment and probability of
grace.
While it is tempting to savor its rich and brilliant past;
for most people Rotary is and will remain a pathway to the
future.

Seen Around Town President Cliff &
Edmee, Rich & Lynn, and Dennis and Judith were spotted at
the Nevada Ballet Theatre performance of From Tchaikovsky
to Gershwin. What a coincidence. Judith, a hard core
balletomane, was heard to say that these were some of the
finest performances she has seen since leaving New York.
Dennis just wanted to know why the male principals didn't get
flowers too.
Cindy Fox, the NVBT Director of Marketing, had offered to
provide some "gifts" for the club to use at its up-coming
fundraiser. We are looking forward to these valuable additions
to our inventory.
Did you know that the NVBT also has a program that they
provide to local schools providing education and cultural
enrichment? Were looking forward to getting some more
information from Development Manager, Tim Doyle. Tim is also
going to try to set up an opportunity for us to hold one of
our regular meetings on the NVBT site just across the road
from TPC.
NALA UPDATE
Paul reports that Phase I at NALA is
completed and the tykes are back at play in the new
playground. They are now working on Phase II to complete the
playground area and raise the walls. Click here for more information.
Group Study Exchange—Help Needed Wenlee reports
that the 2007 Group Study Exchange Team from District 1910 in Central Europe is scheduled
to arrive in LV on April 27.
Rotarian volunteers are needed to help host and transport
the team to scheduled events in town. This is a wonderful
experience for both the visiting GSE Team and the local
Rotarian Hosts. [Ed Note: I was GSE Team Leader from District
6840 to Western Germany in 2000—it was the local hosts who
made this experience one of the best adventures in my
lifetime.] If you would like to share in this experience,
please contact Wenlee.
The Highlighter Chris Datwyler announced
that the February edition of The Highlighter is

| You Must Have Been a Beautiful
Baby... |
All the entries are in. Now it's your turn to play. You
do not need to be a member to play or win. However, we do
invite you to join us for breakfast any Tuesday morning to
meet the beautiful babies in person.
Go to the contest page from our home page, or click the
link below to see the 36 pictures and try to identify them
(crib sheet provided). The contestant who correctly identifies
the most pictures wins a prize (probably a free stay at a
neato resort). The Rotarian's picture most mis-identified also
wins.
Enter as many times as you like. Only your last ballot
will be counted so don't be afraid to guess or try again, and
again, and ...
