Michael has surpassed himself yet again with his craft talk
program. Last week's program was informative, fun, and
entertaining. We heard from Vicki Wille, Darrell Cavanaugh,
and the surprise guest, Wenlee Jensen.
We look forward to Michael's next craft talk production.

“Each club is a link in the great chain of rotary. When one
club does a service for its community, every club glows with
the reflected radiance.” Chesley R Perry 1957 (extract from

| Membership |
|
Membership Referral Form: Do you have a friend,
family member, or business associate who would make a great
Rotarian but lives or works too far away to join your club?
Submit the online Membership
Referral Form to spread the word to clubs in his or her
area!
All forms are received by the Membership Development staff
at RI headquarters and forwarded to the appropriate district
governor and district membership chair. District leaders are
encouraged to send information about any qualified, potential
candidates to the appropriate clubs. At that point, club
leaders can contact candidates to see if they would be a good
fit for their club.
By referring a friend, relative, or colleague, you can
expand the recruitment possibilities for another club and
share the opportunity for Rotary service with another person.
And if someone you refer joins a Rotary club, there will be
another set of hands available for service around the world.

Why I Am A Rotarian I've always thought that to
serve others was my life's calling. After watching our
children grow up and lead lives of their own, my husband and I
decided to devote our time to helping others help their lives.
We were not part of any organization then; we found people to
help, and people found us to help them.
It was in 2005 that my brother, then President-Elect of the
Escalon Sunrise Rotary Club in Escalon, California, brought up
the idea of setting up a Rotary Club in our town. It was
daunting at first, but with much encouragement and support,
and the will to serve others, we were able to set up the
Rotary Club of Alabat Island, chartered in 2005.
We are still a relatively young club, but in terms of
projects and the number of people we have helped, we have
accomplished so much more than what my husband and I ever
envisioned.
For us, the Rotary Club of Alabat Island is a bigger way of
being able to share what we have for the service of others,
which we have always wanted to do. Alicia "Alice" Caparros
Botin, Charter President of the Rotary Club of Alabat Island,
RI District 3820, Philippines

| Have You Seen These Rotarians? |
Last call for baby contest pictures. If you don't
recognize yourself in the gallery to the right, you probably
haven't submitted your beautiful baby picture. Please bring
them in Tuesday or email them to webmaster@rotarysummerlin.org.
Our Beautiful Baby Contest will be posted on our
website the beginning of February for a month. You will have
an opportunity to match online the hidden Rotarian in each
baby picture to the grown-up (well almost) ones in our
club.
There will be a prize given to the person who can
correctly identify the most "Rotarians in the Rough" as well
as a prize for the picture of the Rotarian who has been
identified the least--no telling anyone which is your
picture.
Any picture of you, black and white, or color, print,
slide, or digital can be used. We will scan prints and slides
if you like and return the pictures in the same condition in
which you presented them. Pictures must be of you from high
school age or younger (sorry no sonograms or X-rays). You may
enter up to three pictures--this often confuses the
contestants.
