| President's Message |
Spring Fest, our annual fundraiser, is on March 31. At
Spring Fest, we raise most of the money we need to support our
charities, programs and service groups. We raise money
primarily from our silent and live auctions.
We’re written two letters that can be personalized and used
for soliciting donations for our Spring Fest. We now have on
the website a download directory where members can download
files. Please note that the second one requires you to enter a
date. There's also an area in italics where you can put in
what you are requesting. Feel free to change the “mail to”
information in either letter to your address.
We need all Rotarians in the Northwest Rotary Club to "Lead
the Way" and to secure items for the auction and to help make
this year’s Spring Fest another huge success.

Fireside Chat The Fireside Chat was at Jim &
Elizabeth White’s beautiful home. Dinner was a spectacular
chicken curry with all the accompaniments, which Elizabeth
prepared herself.
The event was very well attended. We
even had a guest, David Gosse--a local analyst, who is
interested in joining a service club. We hope we made a
favorable impression.

More on Spring Fest Jim Cady is asking for two
volunteers to work with Neil and him this year on the Spring
Fest.
Their desire is to get two people involved so that next
year the club develops a rotating group to manage this
most-important event. What would be ideal is to always have an
overlap each year so that we add a new person each year that
will sit on the committee for two years, since it is only a
two month obligation each year and every year that goes by it
should get to be more routine it is an easy job.
If you are interested please let Neil or Jim know as soon as
possible, since organizational meeting will be held in a week
or so.
Group Study Exchange Learn more about
GSE. On February 6, we will have the past team leader, Gene
Hernandez, present his team and their experiences in Central
Europe. Gene is the 2007-2008 District Governor Nominee. The
team will be accompanied by DG-Elect Charles Barr and Tom
Novotny-Executive Assistant Governor.
Darrell Cavanaugh, one of our
two newest members, has agreed to take over as membership
chair to relieve Eric Tarbox, whose job schedule prohibits him
from continuing in that position. Darrell is a long- term
Rotarian who moved here from Laguna Beach.

| Have You Seen This Rotarian? |
This Rotarian has been wandering around for a while,
but no one has seen her in years. You probably have a hidden
Rotarian in you too. Let's bring them out. Announcing our
Beautiful Baby Contest. Over the next few weeks we will
collect your favorite childhood images. Everyone will have an
opportunity to identify the Rotarian hidden in the
picture.
There will be a prize given to the person who can
correctly identify the most "Rotarians in the Rough" as well
as a prize for the picture of the Rotarian who has been
identified the least--no telling anyone which is your
picture.
Any picture of you, black and white, or color, print,
slide, or digital can be used. We will scan prints and slides
if you like and return the pictures in the same condition in
which you presented them. Pictures must be of you from high
school age or younger (sorry no sonograms or X-rays). You may
enter up to three pictures--this often confuses the
contestants.
