Carol O'Hare, Executive Director Nevada Council on Problem
Gambling, helped us to understand that problem gambling is an
addiction no different from a drug or alcohol dependency. It
is the mission of NCPG to generate awareness, promote
education, and advocate for quality treatment of problem
gambling.
To learn more about problem gambling visit the Nevada
Council on Problem Gambling website at http://www.nevadacouncil.org/aboutPG.html
or call their hotline 1-800-522-4700.
Holiday Party Cliff and Emee graciously
hosted our 10th Annual NW Rotary Holiday Party at their home.
Dennis Ortwein led the caroling which was quite harmonious.
Our White Elephant Gift Exchange left everyone with something
they never knew they needed. Many items will surely be seen
again--soon.

Visiting Rotarians and Guests
There's no fellowship in an empty chair. Your
guests and visiting Rotarians help kindle the flame of
fellowship
We were pleased to have a former member and past
club president, Vickie Wille, visit with us. Vicki also
attended our 10th Anniversary Party. Hopefully this is a
trend.

President's Message
“Rotary is one of the best sources of establishing
friendship because it offers an occasion to know people, and
once we know people, generally we learn to like them.” PRIP
Armando de Arruda Pereira at the 1941 Convention, Denver, USA
December is Family month in our Rotary calendar. It’s a
time to meet and greet our extended Rotary family. This family
doesn’t just include our Rotary club member’s personal
families but also those alumni of Rotary programs such as
RYLA, Rotaract, Interact, Scholars and GSE. It’s a wonderful
and appropriate time to meet up with old friends and to get to
know those who will follow in our footsteps.
The
greater the size of the Rotary family, the more good we can do
in this world.

Membership
Michael Flint is taking an active role in helping us become
the YES club. If you have not done a make- up at another club,
you might want to contact Michael who will be leading the way
by taking you along. We don't do it because we have to, we do
it because it's fun. Ask any Rotarian with perfect attendance.
Third Announcement Bob Beers has proposed Guy
Lynch for membership. If you have any questions, please
contact Eric or
Jim.

NALA Update Paul Wexler reports that On Saturday,
Landscaping Services, Inc. (LSI) demolished the old playground
equipment at NALA. $1000.00 worth of playground toys was
ordered and we will need about $500 worth of new swings which,
if not donated, will be purchased. Hopefully we can get the
playground opened this week. Click
here for full story, pictures, and the movie.
The Highlighter Chris Datwyler announced that
December issue is posted online. Click
here or on the link at the right.
A Chile Christmas Edmee Marcek reports that money
collected at our holiday party will be sent to Chile where the
women of the Punitaqui Rotary Club buy food and have local
school children prepare baskets for the needy of the area.
Santa Clothes Joe Germain. Robert
Bridell, and Wenlee Jensen participated in this year's Santa
Clothes and reported it was a heartwarming success, with over
100 Rotarians, Interact, and Kideract participants

Have You Seen This Rotarian?
This Rotarian has been wandering around for a while, but no
one has seen her in years. You probably have a hidden Rotarian
in you too. Let's bring them out. Announcing our Beautiful
Baby Contest. Over the next few weeks we will collect your
favorite childhood images. Everyone will have an opportunity
to identify the Rotarian hidden in the picture.
There will be a prize given to the person who can correctly
identify the most "Rotarians in the Rough" as well as a prize
for the picture of the Rotarian who has been identified the
least--no telling anyone which is your picture.
Any picture of you, black and white, or color, print,
slide, or digital can be used. We will scan prints and slides
if you like and return the pictures in the same condition in
which you presented them. Pictures must be of you from high
school age or younger (sorry no sonograms or X-rays). You may
enter up to three pictures--this often confuses the
contestants.
