| Last Week's Program |
Dave Cabral spoke to us about the Paul Harris Fellowship
and Rotary Foundation. He thanked our club for our
participation in the sustaining member program as each of us
contributes a minimum of $100.00 a year. Dave also presented
Jim Cady with his membership to the Paul Harris Fellowship for
his contribution to the Rotary Foundation.
Dave
explained that this money remains in the fund for three years
drawing interest and then is distributed to the foundation
fund and local districts equally to support international
projects. He pointed out that the Foundation supports the GSE
and Ambassadorial Scholar Programs as well providing matching
grants and supporting programs such as polio plus. He
suggested that members consider the permanent fund in their
estate planning and let RI know of their intent.
The mission of The Rotary Foundation is to enable Rotarians
to advance world understanding, goodwill and peace through the
improvement of health, the support of education and the
alleviation of poverty. The Rotary Foundation is a
not-for-profit corporation that is supported solely by
voluntary contributions from Rotarians and friends of the
Foundation who share its vision of a better world.
Editorial Comment: The Rotary Foundation is
absolutely the best "bang for your buck" contribution you can
possibly make.
On Friday, November 10, we celebrated our 10th Anniversary.
The cocktail party was well attended by current and past club
members including three past presidents. All had a great time.
President Cliff presented a Paul Harris Fellowship award to
Ann Marshall for her contribution to the Rotary Foundation.

| President's Message |
“What is Rotary? Thousands have made answer each in his own
way. It is easier to note what Rotary does than what it is.
One recently has said, “If Rotary has encouraged us to take a
more kindly outlook on life and men; if Rotary has taught us
greater tolerance and the desire to see the best in others; if
Rotary has brought us pleasant and helpful contacts with
others who also are trying to capture and radiate the joy and
beauty of life, then Rotary has brought us all that we can
expect.”
Chicago, October, 1945, Paul P. Harris. From
the forward to “My Road To Rotary”, Paul Harris, 1947

Literacy: A Rotary club can support literacy in a
number of ways, including adoption projects, where a
club adopts a particular community's project, donation
projects, such as organizing a book drive, and volunteering
projects, where club members serve as tutors or mentors.
The article is in this month's Rotarian, complete
