Bobby Shelton of the Clark County Department of Public
Works has been involved in the Bruce Woodbury Beltway since
its inception. He brought us up to date on the current
progress of this project that impacts our members on a regular
basis. Final upgrades of the entire facility to a full fledged
freeway is now scheduled for 2013, nearly 12 years ahead of
the original planned completion date. Bobby tells us that the
stealth fighters were his swan song with the U.S. Air Force
and he anticipates that the beltway will be his project to
retirement with Clark County. For more information on the
beltway, go to the Clark County Public Works website at http://www.accessclarkcounty.com/pubworks/.

Keep up the good work. With members continuing to invite
guests, we should reach and exceed our membership goals.
Rotary Basics There's a new Rotary Basics brochure
available from RI. It's a great recruiting tool and worth a
read for every Rotarian. Here's where to find it: http://www.rotary.org/newsroom/

On a Sad Note
Due to increased business
pressures, Linda Miyoshi has had to resign from the club.
Linda was an active member and past president. We wish her
well and hope that her business endeavors will soon allow her
to return.

We Have A Winner! Ann Marshall's husband, Terry, has
won first place in the Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers' contest
for his mainstream novel, Soda Springs. The group just
announced the winners over the weekend.
The novel in brief: Decades before immigration becomes a
hot-button issue, Cornell student Rick Sanders imports the
1963 Negro civil rights movement to his sleepy Colorado
hometown, Soda Springs, where the locals have never met a
Negro. He discovers a rich heritage in the Mexican-American
barrio he was oblivious to as he grew up, and plunges into the
forgotten civil rights struggle of the Sixties the plight of
Mexican-Americans. He also finds a hometown in the throes of a
failing economy, and himself in the cross hairs of warring
factions governed by hardball local politics.
Congratulations, Terry!
