Last Weeks Program
What a terrific double bill program. First we got first
hand experiences of our own President, past- president, and
other board members who attended the 2006 Convention in
Copenhagen/Malmo. Followed by our RotoAnglers.
Cliff set the stage by describing the Rotary Spirit that
pervaded Scandinavia during the convention. Diane reported on
the tour itself with passing comments about Robert's luggage
and Edmee's shoes (which Edmee reports to be size 6-1/2).
Edmee expressed the emotion she felt listening to the reports
of Rotary projects and fellowship around the world. Robert
reported that Rotary owned the town and left this parting
message: register early for next year's convention in Salt
Lake City.
Joe, Jerry, and Jim put on a nifty presentation including
video of the first RotoAngler expedition to Graham Island
giving us all a foretaste of the Fireside Chat to come. They
even provided a video of the proverbial "...one that that got
away." Four Way Test preserved.

Visiting Rotarians and Guests
There's no fellowship in an empty chair. Your
guests and visiting Rotarians help kindle the flame of
fellowship
Bart White, guest of Jim White. Just graduated with degrees
in economics and business and is looking for gainful
employment. Bart will thank you, and I'm sure Jim and
Elizabeth will thank you too for any helpful leads.

President's Message
Edmee announced that we have a Chair for the International
Avenue of Service. It is our past president Mr. Frank
Kautzmann. Congratulation Frank!
We submitted our 2006-07 Rotary Foundation Matching Grants
Application. If we get it, we should have $12,620 to fund the
2006-07 project in Punitaqui, Chile.

Fish Tales
This month's Fireside Chat was held at Joe and Kay
Germain's home to attest to the veracity of the fish stories
we heard Tuesday morning. The fish was great and the
fellowship superb. View the gallery below.

MEMBER OF THE WEEK--Paul Workman by Dennis
Ortwein
He's a feel good guy. Who would have thought that his
avocation would be difficult to distinguish from his vocation.
Yes, this big affable Texan also shook hands in Colorado and
Utah before pursuing a public relations degree at Utah State.
Dreams of being the next Jon Ralston, Art Linkletter or Al
Gore were out there. When he entered the room, it lit up.
Things happened, one of which was a part-time bank job. Now,
four banks later Paul combines his financial wizardry with his
inimitable people skills to bring human resources and
collateral assets together for the benefit of his clients.
Here at Rotary he lights up the room, comes up with good
ideas, and knows how to make helpful connections for the club.
One must suspect that wife Bonnie and four sons are as
appreciative of Paul as we Rotarians are. Have you ever heard
Bonnie sing, "You Light Up My Life?"
What would life be like without Rotary? Find out
why PDG Marcie Schmidt is proud to be a Rotarian.
