Kideract
Las Vegas NW Rotary Club’s Kideract program works with elementary school children at Booker and Ronzone Elementary schools. Professionals, many of them club members, from government, academia, and business, as well as international visitors such as GSE team members and Ambassadorial Scholars, make presentations to motivate the students to set goals and achieve academically, stressing the importance of completing their education. About 120 students attend the bi-weekly one hour program, which goes on during the entire academic year.

Students are encouraged to actively participate, practicing good communication and presentation skills. Each meeting begins with the Pledge of Allegiance and ends with the Four Way Test.

Through this program we hope to show the 11 and 12 year old 5th graders, who grow up in very sheltered environments, that there are many ways to achieve success in their lives.

Mini Grants for Education

Each year the Las Vegas Northwest Rotary Club offers funding for teacher special projects in the Clark County School District. We provide a number of “mini-grants” of approximately $250.00 for programs or projects teachers wish to implement in their classrooms, but are unable to do so because of a lack of financial resources. Our criteria for these mini-grants are that they will directly benefit the school children and enhance their learning and/or classroom experience.

Applications are due by the end of October each year. We provide funds to Booker and Ronzone Elementaries and Palo Verde High School.
